The Mechanical Pencil Day Contest 2018 is the first ever contest held on Stationery Wiki. The contest is played and won by skill of editing. The purpose of the Mechanical Pencil Day Contest 2018 is to encourage content creation and improvement of articles related to mechanical pencils and to have fun.

The Judges[edit]

The Pen Addict's Brad Dowdy and Dave of Dave's Mechanical Pencils fame have agreed to act as judges for this contest.

How to participate[edit]

To participate you need to amend an existing or create a new article related to mechanical pencils. To keep things simple you don't have to indicate that you want to participate. All contributions will automatically count for the contest. If you don't see your own name in the list of participants on this page we must have missed you. In that case please add yourself to the list of participants.

The deadline for contributions was 5 August 2018 at 12:00 (noon) UTC.

Who can participate[edit]

Everyone can participate, but the prizes can only be sent to countries Royal Mail delivers to, so if you live on the ISS or in a research station in Antarctica and are not sure whether they deliver to you you can check on their Country Guide page. Please create an account if you don't already have one. Without an account your contribution/edit will appear under your IP address and we won't be able to verify who did the contribution/edit.

What you can win[edit]

You can find an explanation on this Bleistift.blog post. The judges will pick two contributions each. This means that if both judges pick the same contributions there will be two prizes, but depending on whether there is overlap or not there can also be three or four prizes.

Winners[edit]

The judges have spoken.

David picked his top contributions by looking at the work done by the different contributors. He then sent in a list of all contributors, ranked in order, with the top two being:

  1. Dish
  2. Rares

Brad picked his top contributions by looking at articles/pages. His top contributions were:

Dish will get the first pick as he was picked by both judges. He will be contacted via his Talk page. Once he has picked a pencil the other winners will be contacted. As there are more winners than prizes Memm will try to find another pencil from his archive to add as an additional prize.
