History[edit]

Theodor Paul Möbius (1868–1953), considered the inventor of the conically drilled pencil sharpener, founded the T. Paul Möbius KG in 1908.

Alfred Möbius and Heinrich Ruppert found the company “Möbius+Ruppert“. In the north of Erlangen they rent premises and produce, initially with 20 employees, pencil sharpeners made of artificial resin, magnesium and zinc, here via compression-casting.

In 1929 Möbius+Ruppert is relocated and the company moves its headquarters to the “Wöhrmühle” in Erlangen.

Drawing instruments are added to the company's line-up in 1965.

In 1983 Möbius' company had financial problems and was transferred to the rescue company DUX GmbH.

In 1998 Standardgraph took over DUX, including the brand name which was registered in 1926.
