Description[edit]

The Col-o-Dex is a stationery product of paper cards used for testing ink colors and other properties. It is an addition to the Col-o-Ring line of ink testing paper, created by Ana Reinert and Bob Atkins. As before, it is a collaboration between Well-Appointed Desk and Skylab Letterpress. This rolodex-style form factor is more designed for desktop use, but it was designed with the original Col-o-Ring in mind.

The original product is sold as 100 sheets of paper, double-notched to attach to standard rolodex rings. This platform allows for easy reordering, and even adding more sheets to the ring. An accessories pack is sold as well[1], which includes tabbed dividers to help organize the ring of cards. The sleeves from the Col-o-Dex fit the original, 2"x4" cards.

The Col-o-Dex debuted in March 2018 at the Arkansas Pen Show.[2]

The Col-o-Dex still uses the paper that Ana and Bob meticulously tested in October 2016, and source the 400-year-old, European mill paper from a distributor local to Kansas City, Missouri.

The paper was rigorously tested to ensure that inks would not feather, bleed or show through. Inks can be tested with fountain pen, glass pen, dip pen, swabs or paintbrush on the front or back of the sheet.[3]
