The Fenghwa Surprise was first released in September 1948. It's the first ballpoint pen in China, made by Fine Articles Factory (the predecessor of Fenghwa Ballpoint Pen Factory). All parts of the pen except the tip's ball was made in China.
This pen imitates Eversharp Kimberly in appearance. It has no clip, a gold-colored metal section of the cap visually separating the cap's tip and the main body of the pen. Because the production capacity was relatively low at that time, the number of listings was very small.
The factory rented a counter on the ground floor of Yong'an Company for sale. Because is the first ballpoint pen in China, it started out with only a the daily sales total of about 100.
