Speaker 0: That more is yoga as you'll get going with that so yeah I can't wait to see that.

Speaker 0: All right to some of your your and I or I friends had a few questions for you.

Speaker 0: One is from Andrew who was also on the BYOB podcast with me on my first appearance was on the second one but the Mister.

Speaker 1: Is also a moderator for a yes.

Speaker 0: Yes so he had a huge list of questions arms I picked a couple and he wanted to know are there any other vintage pens that could be brought back into use like Esterbrook ball points three three D. printing and I bring this up for obvious reasons but you in high reviewed and Esterbrook ball plane that used a three D. printed kind of cartridge components so you could put it aside in a refill into that so what do you think about this type of use of three D. printing for vintage pen restoration.

Speaker 1: I think it's great and I think that you do need to you do need to let people know that it's not totally all original but said.

Speaker 1: Bama pens as the ones is the company that made the Esterbrook adapter.

Speaker 1: And he has another one already it's a Shaffer I can't remember which models yes I can't remember either.

Speaker 1: But he's also working on small right now so I think that we will see even more out of him and that comes out and makes other things useful again don't throw away any of the stuff that you don't think it's useful.

Speaker 0: Yet it's it's kind of a the perfect usage of this three D. printing technology to make all this for all depends I mean you start we start to see more and more of that and I think that'll just continue on and and end up by bringing some of these products back to life I think it's great.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Speaker 0: So this next question I feel like it might be an inside joke at that I don't know about but I'm just gonna go for it.

Speaker 0: Or maybe it's just you know how interested.

Speaker 1: You about.

Speaker 0: It.

Speaker 1: It's no inside joke that I know of.

Speaker 0: Okay so if you found a wood Chuck writing down how much would he have chucked what number new would be in his Esterbrook so what's the proper would Chuck chucking Esterbrook nip number.

Speaker 1: Well I'm actually surprised that I was asked this because it seems so obvious would have an accounting and he would be accounting for his would be nice.

Speaker 0: Nice.

Speaker 1: So you know there's several of them that were thought of as accounting naps but you know two five five six let's go with that one.

Speaker 0: Gotcha gotcha and then from ana not your honor but the intended or off ana who is also a podcaster level these podcasters out out out out now so if you can pin related questions for you what is your absolute favorite and least favorite inks.

Speaker 1: Okay so if anybody doesn't know already I am obsessed to the I. it's terrible with inks.

Speaker 1: And my favorite ink sometimes changes even a couple times during the day.

Speaker 1: I'm not currently my favorite is that my favorites are Mont Blanc us one.

Speaker 1: The very strange color and then caliphal Leo but I think it's.

Speaker 1: Portion may I think I've said that right I know which one you're talking about it's kind of a smoky purplish Burgundy and dash Franklin Kristoff emerald three fifty seven.

Speaker 0: Nice.

Speaker 1: Nice yeah.

Speaker 1: And then.

Speaker 0: Do you get the idea for it.

Speaker 1: I have a bunch of them that are least favorites but some.

Speaker 1: Via the Baystate blue wins out that one.

Speaker 0: Yeah.

Speaker 1: Just because I wish it was different but.

Speaker 0: It'll it'll kill all your vintage pens wanna.

Speaker 1: Please don't do that.

Speaker 1: I will come take away your vintage pens.

Speaker 1: Threaten that.

Speaker 0: So I'm gonna jump to her third question since were it is is very related to it what what inks do you approved for use in your venture gesture Estabrooks.

Speaker 1: So Waterman is always my very favorite for those but I say anytime there's been a company that's been around for a good while inept.

Speaker 1: Pilots sailors J. her bond Aurora Schaefer any of those companies have been around quite awhile and it had to fix pens if their ink ruins them.

Speaker 0: Yet.

Speaker 1: I will say it with Parker that's why they pulled the sapphire the Parker pen men sapphire yeah.

Speaker 0: That whole line up of inks.

Speaker 1: Yep canso.

Speaker 1: Anybody who's been around the block several times and knows what it can do depends.

Speaker 0: Yes those those pen manufacturer brands always tend to be the safest because exactly like you said they're not going to make something that's going to cause the more work on their own pens so they've done a good job with that so do you have a grail ink or grail pen that you would want to to add to your collection one day.

Speaker 1: C. grill is so final.

Speaker 0: Totally.

Speaker 1: Fine with I have some that I am currently trying to get Mike Athena colonel blue is the one that I'm currently obsessed with trying.

Speaker 0: Okay.

Speaker 1: And then my pen I'm currently drooling over that Khumbu.

Speaker 0: Yeah.

Speaker 1: Is the funniest.

Speaker 0: Amazing yet is.

Speaker 1: I can't say in front of my kids.

Speaker 0: So.

Speaker 1: They'll die laughing.

Speaker 1: But you know I I can't ever have a grill pan because that would be that means it's the end yeah that's right can't do that I'm what.

Speaker 0: I'm with you on that so yeah but the I do have I actually I I bit the bullet and I do have a company who heading my way so.

Speaker 0: Well we'll talk I don't have it in yet so we'll all we'll talk about that in future episodes see how I relate to see how I enjoy it so we appreciate all the questions for Jesse and I would be remiss if we didn't in the show Jesse talking about our good buddy Jim rouse of Franklin Kristoff arm for those who don't know for those who were just catching this episode.

Speaker 1: For.

Speaker 0: The first time we publish.

Speaker 0: Jim passed away at the Miami Pinchot this saw past Sunday and it's a massive loss for his family.

Speaker 0: And for our community Mike I feel very selfish say and like I feel I feel bad that you know we lost jump at no and that you know I'm not one of his family members but all of us in the community felt like Jim's family members of because that's the type of person Jim Jim was.

Speaker 0: He was an important.

Speaker 0: Part of the community he was.

Speaker 0: So well respected it's hard to grasp like that the next Pinchot I go to in a couple weeks gyms not gonna be there and it's going to hit me hard again it hit me hard with a new set Sunday night I had a really rough Sunday night I had a really rough Monday morning.

Speaker 0: Until I got the you know I a I got up enough nerve to to sit in front of a camera and invite people to come in and talk to.

Speaker 0: Talk about Jim and allow me to to share some some of my good memories of jam on twitch and you know it helps to be able to communicate to people you know during times of loss and all of us are.

Speaker 0: Mostly friends through the internet and only see each other a couple times a year so it's nice to be able to chat with other people on about the the loss of Jim and you told me something Jesse before we started that you kind of had this tradition at Penn shows and would you would you mind sharing that with us.

Speaker 1: Yeah and I actually had this tradition because I had to use it as a limit to my.

Speaker 1: And.

Speaker 1: But my first and show purchase was a Frank and Chris often and it is absolutely still my favorite.

Speaker 1: It was at pockets sixty six the antique class and I got a signet bond that and I never in my life written with a pen that to a.

Speaker 1: That was grounds to me and that somebody spent time making it right for me.

Speaker 1: And that I.

Speaker 1: I still write with that weekly.

Speaker 1: Then at other and shows I allowed myself to purchase one Franklin Kristoff and even though sometimes I went over that.

Speaker 0: As we all do.

Speaker 1: Yeah I especially loved the prototypes on the ones that were made as one offs so I would pick up one or more.

Speaker 1: At each banjo and get a different name on it and I said yeah that's how my Franklin Kristoff obsession started and.

Speaker 1: Now I've got plenty of forty fives and I adore each one of them.

Speaker 1: But yeah I had to.

Speaker 1: I had to limit myself but by a.

Speaker 1: I.

Speaker 1: I don't know after a year of that Jim knew me very well by.

Speaker 1: My pen orders.

Speaker 1: End and dead by the time I came to pick it up.

Speaker 1: He would have it ground and adjusted so that it was just perfect for me I almost never had to ask him for any other adjustments it was he just knew my writing style.

Speaker 0: Yep and I think you'll you'll find the stories a lot when you hear.

Speaker 0: People that have worked with German and I've been customers offering a course stuff over the years I've been friends with the the whole friggin Christopher Hamlin and fans of Jim's work but it's the kind of guy he was like he just knew end up where will definitely be thinking about him every time we use our our pens now with the gym's handy work on the dips and we've had an outpouring of.

Speaker 0: Emails and tax and everyone's condolences arm so.

Speaker 0: I appreciate.

Speaker 1: In.

Speaker 0: The city so I'm sure I will be alone in that so.
