The Pen Addict 309/Transcript
Speaker 0: Alright we got some good asked EPA to wrap the show up on the first one.
Speaker 0: Is.
Speaker 0: Something that I just realized about one of the past six months or so took gill's desk wants to know screw cap fountain pens how tight is too tight.
Speaker 1: Very tight is too tight this is actually a thing especially on.
Speaker 0: Non metal.
Speaker 0: Pens right so anything you're scoring that's acrylic on acrylic or celluloid on celluloid you can get.
Speaker 0: Too tight to wear your who will eventually bald patch or risk cracking the cap or or things like or something like that like I you can get too tight in.
Speaker 0: Non metal.
Speaker 0: Fountain pen so.
Speaker 1: You know just loosely tighten them.
Speaker 0: You know right to where you feel it kind of us stop and then don't over tighten them because you can do some damage especially over time.
Speaker 1: So it may wolf.
Speaker 0: Says.
Speaker 1: Micron dash eight forty nine broke.
Speaker 0: Where the section screws into the body likely from my grip which is very high putting pressure on the threads or from over tightening see.
Speaker 1: See what I mean Gilles desk.
Speaker 0: Or both where can I get a replacement section for this fountain pen.
Speaker 0: So crime dash as far as I know does not sell replacement parts you're gonna have to go back to where.
Speaker 1: You bought it from.
Speaker 0: Or two chron dash directly.
Speaker 1: I am sure they can get you.
Speaker 0: A new section but it's probably gonna take a little bit of jumping through hoops to get that part replaced just because they don't offer parts like say like all along me does or someone where they have like new jobs in different parts even though a section I guess not many companies are gonna have a section laying around it at various retailers and things like that so you're out to get in touch with where you bought it from our crown dash directly hopefully they will replace it for you.
Speaker 1: So the Evander.
Speaker 0: Mike this might be a vendor Holyfield actually when I read this to the Evander says I have a normally large hands like forget going shopping for gloves I'm not gonna find the that fit what are some bigger wider found pens that don't cost hundreds of dollars.
Speaker 1: So.
Speaker 1: Some of the metal barrel.
Speaker 0: Fountain pens.
Speaker 0: Fall into that category so the CNMI sue Nova or.
Speaker 0: The end so PMR I think the PMR might be the better one of the two is a very large diameter pen.
Speaker 0:
Speaker 0: As far as like non metal pens I'm having trouble thinking of any standard pens that are really really wide barreled montre grappa makes a what's the what's the tree trunk with each state.
Speaker 1: They just did off I'll find that.
Speaker 0: In a in an email you of and or or or.
Speaker 0: Of the sequoia square so that makes it so.
Speaker 0: The.
Speaker 0: Underground pasta Korea I think was that Monteverdi sequoia it's very very large pens so check that one out otherwise I'm not coming up with to too much for this so.
Speaker 1: Tim Stevens.
Speaker 0: Has a problem that I have and I have no solution Mike.
Speaker 1: How do you identify your various nodes that are powered up in your drawer.
Speaker 0: With no label asking for a friend.
Speaker 1: Look at Fred as many lucky that you just go for a huge label that's on you that's on you you know lucky.
Speaker 0: Lucky dip.
Speaker 1: Is that we're going with.
Speaker 0: Okay.
Speaker 1: Lucky dip alright Tim lucky dip.
Speaker 1: I don't know that race is this one of these positions as this is that's a British ism but I am unaware of all right so like a lucky dip is you for this welcome Polish stuff maybe like a pile of wrapped things writes the mansion like a bunch of prizes locked up in some little boxes and that'll kind of like in a power when you just reach in and grab one its lock in the U. just dependent grab one look at it yeah well logically it makes sense but lucky dip where I live involves like a can of Copenhagen or scroll.
Speaker 0: So it's not really like the same.
Speaker 1: Same type of thing but means him I don't have.
Speaker 0: A great.
Speaker 1: Answer for you because I have this problem too I know I've got some of my.
Speaker 0: Writing Christoph must yama nibs mixed in with some things that I don't.
Speaker 0: I am gonna have a hard time telling apart and I'm regretting that now because.
Speaker 0: Those are are tough to come by.
Speaker 1: The one solution I've used.
Speaker 0: Not regularly is to use the.
Speaker 1: Files that you get the samples in.
Speaker 0: Those little four millimeter files and you can drop the nip in there and label it on the outside so that's probably the best way to do it but I haven't found a great solution other than that and I definitely have a mess of nodes that I know I have some really nice stuff laden and this is one of the rations.
Speaker 1: Random loves we get questions like this for this show we get questions like this the upgrade to willing someone has a problem that they don't want to have to fix themselves and they are just hoping that we have some kind of like a magical way to help them fortunately Tim you already knew the answer to this question and it was off of a day of sitting with a magnifying glass and the OEM parts that's that's that's what is ahead of you my friend.
Speaker 1: That is what I had it.
Speaker 0: What is ahead of you so lucky dip those things up and and then.
Speaker 1: When you lucky dip and pull one.
Speaker 0: You know investigate it write it down and save it on a little little file and you won't have to lucky dip anymore nerves.
Speaker 1: All right capital why one says I think you guys have ruined me.
Speaker 1: Ever since I began using the nam across field and help with the G. cousin all.
Speaker 0: Non tamale river paper feels awful what is one to do.
Speaker 1: It's just got a phone at York.
Speaker 0: You can get.
Speaker 1: Every size.
Speaker 0: Of.
Speaker 0: Paper pad notebook planner into Molly river paper now we're spoiled in that aspect that no matter what you want what format you want to write and you can get something with my river so.
Speaker 1: I mean it's not gonna be in your office photocopier.
Speaker 0: But I think anywhere else you should you should be able to cover yourself even from.
Speaker 1: A little small pocket notebooks to the giant a force.
Speaker 0: And larger sizes so.
Speaker 1: Yeah.
Speaker 0: So.
Speaker 1: Just own it.
Speaker 0: Own the tamale get it everywhere.
Speaker 0: Right Mike.
Speaker 1: We have one of our favorite types.
Speaker 0: Avast EPA questions got a big hypotheticals so.
Speaker 1: This is a two parter but similar.
Speaker 1: And now I'll read through the entire thing.
Speaker 0: Of for both of us so we each have a part in this so.
Speaker 1: This is from Dave he says for Brad let's try hypothetical.
Speaker 0: Does your elected the next president of the United States.
Speaker 1: As your first act as president in a small room of the capital.
Speaker 0: Just off the stage where you just took your oath of office you sign about seven hundred executive orders repealing just about everything your predecessor has done so far this is factually correct.
Speaker 1: As you're the new American.
Speaker 0: President.
Speaker 1: You want this act to celebrate the best.
Speaker 0: Of all things American.
Speaker 1: Upon which American paper have you had your staff print these executive orders and which American pen and ink.
Speaker 0: Do you use to sign them.
Speaker 1: So that's my part of this question Mike's as you can imagine is similar yet different so let's go there for Mike let's say that you have let your massive following to rise up.
Speaker 0: And.
Speaker 1: Overthrow the queen you've slaughtered her and her family this to quite a turn my I don't like the release of releasing her dragon's back to the wild and taken her realm by force.
Speaker 0: Quite a jerk I'm way nicer.
Speaker 1: Or however you become the great leader of Britain he does there is an out there.
Speaker 0: You know.
Speaker 1: He thinks that spike Dave.
Speaker 0: You know assuming that's how you would take control but you know he.
Speaker 1: There is an out how.
Speaker 0: Or however you become the leader of Great Britain.
Speaker 1: After scribes have used up all of the four health him please put it drafting odes to your greatness.
Speaker 0: You needed to ink.
Speaker 1: You must similar you choose the best of British.
Speaker 0: Paper and pen to record your royal decrees what do you use.
Speaker 1: I mean I want to start by taking up with this the way that everything is done in this question.
Speaker 1: The letter alleges many things that are wrong because if I wanted to take power in this country becoming the monarch would not be the way I would do it I would just.
Speaker 0: Feed the.
Speaker 1: Prime minister up I don't understand why you just get to be elected.
Speaker 1: But I have to slaughter somebody that's what I don't understand what appeared to be no it's not so reasonable no I don't think it is that they're way off plus I also don't really have any good answers to this question anyway.
Speaker 1: This is a very difficult question so with me the pen part is easy.
Speaker 0: At.
Speaker 1: Least in the.
Speaker 0: The thought that I gave it and I could be forgetting something.
Speaker 1: But I'm gonna go with Parker.
Speaker 1: You know Parker has a huge.
Speaker 0: Traditional relationship with this company may not be owned by I don't even know who owns Parker now but it.
Speaker 1: Originated.
Speaker 0: As an American company and was you know a huge huge part in the the forming of the the writing industry in this country so I would probably get.
Speaker 0: Yeah seven hundred.
Speaker 0: Parker do a folds the classic.
Speaker 0: Parker fountain pen.
Speaker 0: To sign all of my seven hundred executive orders because every signature you have to give away the pen.
Speaker 1: So I would do that I would probably get French paper company.
Speaker 1: To print up anything that I needed.
Speaker 0: A home which exact.
Speaker 0: Paper brand I would use I don't know but.
Speaker 0: The French it's been around for awhile their well known well known printer in the.
Speaker 1: Inks kind of the kicker like.
Speaker 1: You know there's the old.
Speaker 0: You know American inks like.
Speaker 0: Carter's and then the basic stuff like the Parker stuff.
Speaker 1: Is there any modern American ink I would use.
Speaker 0: You know.
Speaker 1: The Birmingham.
Speaker 0:
Speaker 0: I don't think of the call the Birmingham in company are they making their own inks poppy a plume plans I guess making their own inks.
Speaker 1: So yeah I would have to figure out.
Speaker 0: Which company.
Speaker 0: I would want to use on it would be new verse I know that's the easy the easy.
Speaker 1: One but the other.
Speaker 0: One of their permanent inks actually might be pretty good so maybe they like the new there's bullet proof stuff that might be pretty good for executive order so.
Speaker 1: I don't know if that's so it's a really hard question just come with like the.
Speaker 0: The the pure American traditional type of set up arm there's just not a lot of wonderful options do you have anything Mike.
Speaker 1: Fell further and tell everybody.
Speaker 1: Yeah because after you know I just I don't really have anything for paper ink.
Speaker 1: But I guess if I was gonna choose something for a pen I would maybe go with like something more modern because that's what I'm all about and I would maybe go for like the enemy sixty on which is a pen the I really really like a lot and I know that's maybe a little bit controversial but I love it.
Speaker 1: And I've been enjoying using a lot recently and it's a.
Speaker 1: This made brand so yeah that was me.
Speaker 1: Yeah I just hope might be another good one that's more modern brand was always looking for Joe classic brown I was thinking of Joe to.
Speaker 1: The I preferred the fountain pen.
Speaker 1: That like I could do if I.
Speaker 0: Was going modern you know I probably go like Frank and clerks Kristoffer Edison something like that.
Speaker 1: Paper wise yeah I don't know.
Speaker 0: I don't know what paper to you to use this is WHS a classic British company and then.
Speaker 1: One of their assigned Mina they don't make good stuff.
Speaker 1: Well I didn't make I didn't pick like an original paper maker.
Speaker 0: Like French is a printer essentially.
Speaker 1: I just thought yeah but you know but like they only sell stuff and the stuff that they may excels is all white label and it's not.
Speaker 0: Good.
Speaker 0: Yeah.
Speaker 0: Yeah.
Speaker 1: But that was a.
Speaker 0: That was an interesting question that I don't know if we did like a super great job on the whole of the puts forth well I'm sure we'll get a lot of follow up on this particular question especially how evil you are.
Speaker 1: But to wrap this up.
Speaker 0: On the question on everybody's mind this past week Mike unfortunately arm this is one of those those.
Speaker 1: Internet.
Speaker 0: Things those darn people on the internet and their things.
Speaker 0: We need to know the people need to know rebel Jim wants to know especially.
Speaker 1: Yanni.
Speaker 0: Or laurel.
