Episode 100 Intro[edit]

Myke Hurley: Hello and welcome to episode 100 of The Pen Addict podcast. The Pen Addict is a weekly show where we discuss pens, paper, and the analogue tools that we love so dearly. My name is Myke Hurley. Okay, everyone get ready for this. This is our scent penial, which Sirte Penley has a nice rotaring to it. On this show, it's always been La Me and Him. This is something Kawiko have made together. It truly is his and I am mine. People said we couldn't do a show about pens, but this has proven that we probably can. They said it would twis be a long road here to get here, but we knew it would be a fun one. Some would say 100 episodes is really a pileot of content, but we think there's so much more left to do. Okay, this is Schmidt. It's safe to say this guy is my paper mate. He is the pen addict, Brad Dowdy.

Brad Dowdy: I'm crying.

Myke Hurley: There we go. I did it.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, and not from laughter, from like emotion.

Myke Hurley: Check that out.

Brad Dowdy: Seriously, my eyes are like watering up. I'm like, wow, that was awesome.

Myke Hurley: That took me 30 minutes today to write that.

Brad Dowdy: Holy crap. That would have taken me 30 days. That was like the, wow. Talk about something special. That was out of hand.

Myke Hurley: Thank you, buddy.

Brad Dowdy: Thank you for doing that. That was really awesome.

Myke Hurley: Episode 100. We did it. We made it here. We're here. Episode 100. We're here. I can't believe it. The show about pens.

Brad Dowdy: Unbelievable. It's really unbelievable.

Myke Hurley: Shall I say now, we decided this a little while ago, that's the last intro I'm going to do. Yep. I may throw the occasional one in here and there, but it was getting, I don't know if you've realized in recent weeks, it's been getting to the point where I just don't know what to say anymore. I've clearly exhausted myself now. I basically spent about 45 minutes on Goulet, Colt pens, the writing desk, just looking at pen brands and trying to work out puns from their names and then retroactively fitting it into sentences.

Brad Dowdy: This is why you're so good at what you do. I did not. There's no way I could do that.

Myke Hurley: I did not expect that reaction from you. It kind of threw me off. I'm really pleased that it meant something to you.

Brad Dowdy: I didn't either. I mean, as soon as you started, I was like, oh, here we go. Because we talked before the show, as always, right? And I'm upbeat and peppy, and I'm so excited for this. And as soon as we start recording, here comes the waterworks. I'm emotional about it. I'm a big softie.

Myke Hurley: That's why we love you. Now, we have some incredible stuff to talk about today, like monumental mega stuff. But, of course, we have some monumental mega feedback and follow-up that we need to get through first. And it's all around one thing.

Field Notes Reaction[edit]

Brad Dowdy: Field notes freak out.

Myke Hurley: It's been crazy this week. I don't think we've ever had such a reaction to something we've spoken about on the show before. But, basically, I mean, I haven't been keeping an accurate score about this. But I would say that the response has been pretty mixed, like pretty 50-50, between people that agree with you and people that think you're insane about your feelings on the field notes shelterward.

Brad Dowdy: Well, there's definitely no middle ground.

Myke Hurley: No. People either think that it's the greatest thing ever or not. And one of the funny things, and this is not necessarily saying anything about my opinion, is a lot of the people that said that they loved it didn't yet receive them, if that makes sense, in the same way as I did. It was like, how could you hate this? They look amazing. They hadn't yet received them.

Brad Dowdy: Right. I don't think it was actually close to 50-50. I think it was more like about 25% on my side and about 75% on loving it. Okay. So I didn't think it was quite 50-50. But, I mean, it did – not that I was trying to prove a point, but I'm glad I'm not on an island. Not that I would gladly be on an island if that was the case because that's how I honestly feel about it. But, I mean, there was other people that kind of could see where I was coming from. And understood the point about how amazing and in addition this is and how technically awesome it is. But you're just not going to write in it, and that's kind of where I stood. And there were plenty of other people that felt like that. I think the majority, though, love it. I think in our listenership, it's probably like one out of every four is probably on my side. In the general public, I would be just looking at like field nuts and just the general tweets. It would be probably one out of every ten would be on the, eh, didn't care for it so much side. But still, it's a pretty amazing addition by field notes. That's one thing we can all agree on for sure. And so I'm excited for you to finally get yours.

Brad Dowdy: Oh, yeah. So when we talked, we talked like six or eight hours ago, and you didn't have them yet. So this is a fresh arrival since you've been home from work, right?

Myke Hurley: Yep.

Brad Dowdy: So let's hear it.

Myke Hurley: Well, first off, this was the renewal of my color subscription. I have more craft packs than I know what to do with. They're basically just stacking up now. Like, I just don't use them. I feel like I should start giving them away. So, shelterwood.

Myke Hurley: I don't really know where to start. I've written some notes down, but I don't really know where to start with it. The way that they feel and smell is incredible.

Myke Hurley: And it actually leads me into sort of a bit of self-follow-up, but I'll get to that in a second. So the way that these feel is so strange. You can feel the wood grain in them, but not in like – it's unsanded, right? That's how it feels anyway, but it's not like you're getting splinters. But you can feel the wood grain, and they smell so interesting and great, actually, and outdoorsy. Now, there's been something that's been mulling over in my head constantly since last week's episode. You asked me, if I went into a shop and saw them on the shelf, would I buy them? And I kind of was like backwards and forwards on it, didn't really know what to say. But I've been thinking about it a lot, and I think that I've come up with something for my feeling on it. If I saw these in a shop on a shelf, I'd think it wasn't real wood. If I'd known it was real wood, I'd probably look at it differently, which is why I feel I look at these differently. Does that make sense?

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, I just – my whole shop question, would you buy them in a shop? I made sure to quantify that in a world that Field Notes didn't exist where you didn't know about how awesome this brand is. Like if you were just going in and you saw a general row of notebooks, and you had a row of notebooks to choose from, and one of them included a woodcover notebook, would the woodcover notebook be the one you would choose out of that row of notebooks?

Myke Hurley: Yeah, see, I don't know. Again, I still don't know, but anyway. Sure. Okay, so let me say a better thing that I don't like. Right. They have a harder job of not just staying closed but staying flat.

Brad Dowdy: Correct.

Myke Hurley: So the staying closed thing, whatever, I mainly have – my Field Notes never stay closed. Anyway, these definitely are more prominently open, but more or less open is not an issue. I mean, if it's open, it's open. Does that make sense? Yes. No matter how open it is.

Brad Dowdy: Right. It's always open. Doesn't matter if it's 10 degrees open or 45 degrees open.

Myke Hurley: Yeah, because it's open. And most of the time, I have my Field Notes with either my pen on like the right edge so it's keeping the book closed. Gotcha. Or I have it tucked under my keyboard so it stays closed. Or quite a lot. I put my phone on it. If it serves two purposes, it keeps my notebook closed, and it stops the vibration of my phone going into the desk and annoying everyone around me.

Brad Dowdy: I'm laughing because I do the exact same thing with the phone. That's how I – if it's not in my pocket, that's how I usually have it set down on my desk.

Myke Hurley: I reckon probably everyone is nodding along at this point.

Myke Hurley: The only other thing is also with that, it doesn't do a great job of staying closed when you're writing in it. But I'm finding that as I'm writing in it, my hand tends to hold the book open anyway. Sure. But it feels like just the sheer – the thickness of this and the staples that they've had to use has meant that the book suffers from that a little bit. However, I'm happy to sacrifice that for this paper. Yeah. I love this paper so much. Like, it's perfect for me because I get paper that I can use any fountain pen in. It doesn't bleed through. Like, it has a bit of bleed through, but it doesn't bleed through enough that it's ever going to be a problem. No matter how thick I want my pen to be, fountain pens, gel pens, my autographic liner, like all of those, it's fine. And it also feels great to write in. I actually quite like the lined because I tend to take, like, written notes. It's not a big thing for me. A lot of the times I can ignore the lines if I want to. I don't feel boxed in by that. The way that I am at this at the moment, I think currently they're probably my second favorite after Dark Sky.

Brad Dowdy: Wow. That's great.

Myke Hurley: That could change after using them more because, again, it's the paper. But, man, I love these. The way they look, like, that is something special. I'm going to take this in to work with me tomorrow, and I'm going to see if anybody asks me any questions. People do ask me questions about field notes, and I want to see if people do the same for this one.

Brad Dowdy: I have to imagine that, yeah, this is maybe the best-looking edition, the most talked-about edition visually. Like, if someone who didn't know anything about 100 episodes of a pen podcast, right, they're going to see that and go, what is that, and let me see it, and whoa, that's pretty cool. No doubt.

Myke Hurley: Like, I'm happy that I've bought so many of these because I know I'm going to use them, and I'll be bummed if I only had, like, five of these. Cool. You know? Remember I mentioned Night Sky last week?

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, yeah.

Myke Hurley: So, I have a benefactor.

Myke Hurley: I'm getting, like, six packs. Whoa. I'll talk about it when they arrive. Sweet. Yeah, I want to hear it. I'm very, very... I had a couple of emails, like, a couple of people offering to sell me them, and I was starting to go down the process of doing it, and then this person was like, I don't like them. I wanted a black cover. Then they released... What's the other ones? Pitch Black. Pitch Black. And that's what I want. So, I have, like, a bunch of these that I don't want. So, do you want them? And I was like, yes, how much? Like, just pay for shipping. I'm like, okay. Yeah.

Pen Blog[edit]

Brad Dowdy: That's awesome. What a cool thing to do.

Myke Hurley: Yeah. So, I will give full credit to the person when they arrive, because I haven't asked them if they are okay with me mentioning it.

Brad Dowdy: What an awesome addition that is, man.

Myke Hurley: Nice guy.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. Yeah.

Myke Hurley: Yeah, I'm happy to get more of those. I really do love those.

Myke Hurley: And I really love these. So, I'm very happy.

Brad Dowdy: Well, good. That's awesome. And you know what? Maybe I'll come around and use one just to say that I've used one. And, you know, maybe my opinion will change a little bit. Because I do like that paper. And I actually just made myself a note while we're talking. Since last week, I forgot to order some more America the Beautiful edition. And I just made a note to myself to do that. Because, like I said, you know, just over time and using new releases, you know, gives you different appreciations about all the past releases. And, you know, America the Beautiful wasn't one of my favorites when it came out. And it's kind of growing on me now. So, I want to make sure I have a few more of those. Because it does have this great paper that the Shelterwood edition has.

Myke Hurley: Superb.

Brad Dowdy: Yes, sir.

Myke Hurley: Shall we take a break and then come back and spend the rest of the episode, one, talking about the show, and two, talking about two incredible things?

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.

Myke Hurley: So, let's take a quick break to thank the sponsor for this week's episode, people that have been with us since pretty much the start of this show. And that is the fine folks over at Squarespace. They are the only one platform that makes it fast and easy to create your own professional website, portfolio, and online store. For a free trial and 10% off, visit squarespace.com and use the offer code GOODBYEBRAD at checkout.

Myke Hurley: Are you serious? Yep. A better web starts with your website. And, in my opinion, better websites start with Squarespace. They are super easy and super simple to use. Everything is laid out in a really nice and easy to understand way. Everything is laid out in sort of with the way that their templates look. You can drag and drop all different types of content in. You can very easily change from one of their beautiful templates to another beautiful template. You can very easily change fonts and stuff like that. That's all simple and easy. But then the back-end stuff like their statistics, their apps, all of the ways that you're able to plug different services in like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. That's all simple and easy too. You don't have to go digging around the internet somewhere and finding some plug-in that you have to install so you can have your posts automatically tweet for you. It does all of that. That's all built right in. I mentioned drag and drop. Everything in their pages, when you're designing your pages, you drag and drop different types of content in. And if you want the image stuff to show above the text, well, you just drag the image block above the text. It's simple. I mean, and I feel this is the type of thing that it's simple for people that are not 100% sure what they're doing when it comes to coding a website like me. And it's also simple for people like Brad, who knows how to code a website, but chooses to use Squarespace because it's the easiest and the way for him to achieve the type of thing that he wants to make. Squarespace have 24-7 support through live chat and email. They are located in New York City and Dublin now to make sure that they're able to provide that 24-7 support to you. Squarespace plans start at $8 a month. They include a free domain name if you sign up for a year. Every single Squarespace site has its own responsive design built right in, so it looks fantastic from all devices. They have Squarespace Commerce, which is their online store capabilities. Every site with Squarespace comes with the ability to add an online store. It allows people like Brad to set up a store for his, his forthcoming store for his company, NotCo, and he's selling physical goods. But if you wanted to sell an e-book, for example, like digital goods, they have all the tools that you need to do that too. You can start a trial with Squarespace. There's no credit card required and you can start building your website with them today. When you decide to sign up, make sure that you use the offer code goodbyebrad. That's all one word. That's G-O-O-D-B-Y-E-B-R-A-D. It's goodbyebrad and it's going to get you 10% off your first purchase and it will also show you support for the pen addict. Thank you so much to Squarespace for supporting this show and all of 5x5. That's Squarespace. A better web starts with your website. Cool. The interesting thing over the time that we've done this show is Squarespace have had three different slogans. I don't know why I wanted to bring that up. I'm just very nostalgic today.

Brad Dowdy: Awesome. Well, that's a good lead into the next thing I want to talk about because I'm feeling a little bit nostalgic on the pen blog of the week. I was actually going to maybe skip it this episode, but it's been a good thing we've done for maybe 10 episodes or so. I was like, oh, we're going to skip it. We've got a bunch to talk about for episode 100 and things, and it could end up being a long episode. But it hit me when I was thinking about who to put in for the pen blog of the week. And I wanted to put in the well-appointed desk, my friend Anna Roberts, Anna Reinert, because she goes back so far with the pen addict. And I owe her just a bit of gratitude for being there when I first started the blog. And she's one of the first people I remember commenting on the original pen addict blogger blog. She ran a blog at the time called Snow Angels.

Brad Dowdy: And we just had a friendship back then just through this great love of stationery that we both have. And it's continued on to this day, and it's been awesome seeing her blog just grow and blossom now at the well-appointed desk. And she's obviously been a guest on this show a few times, and I love her to death. And I just wanted to say thank you for always being there for me. Anna, and thanks for being there at the beginning. And I really appreciated you, and I just wanted to let you know that.

Myke Hurley: And thank you for being such an awesome guest of the pen addict podcast as well. She's great. One of our very, very favorites.

Brad Dowdy: Oh, no doubt. And we'll have to have her back soon.

Myke Hurley: Without a shadow of a doubt.

Brad Dowdy: Yep.

Myke Hurley: So we have two things. Now, we don't really have more pens or paper to review in this episode. But we're kind of going to – we're devoting the rest of this episode to you, the listeners. Because I have said this so many times, and I stand by this fact to this day. The listeners of the pen addict are without a shadow of a doubt the most fanatical and devout and awesome listeners of any show that I do. And I currently produce six podcasts. They were like – over the time that I've done this show, I've maybe let go of three or four. So of all of the shows that I've done over the last four years that I've been in podcasting, I've never known an audience like you guys. Like, you care so much about the show, and you love it so much, and we love you for that. So we've got two things. The first thing that we wanted to do is we wanted to make sure that we could give everybody the ability to have something to commemorate this event. Me and Brad consider 100 episodes of the pen addict a podcast about pens, which never really should have existed in the first place. To the fact that it exists and it has an audience like you guys, we wanted to give you something that you could have. So we created a t-shirt. It's a very simple t-shirt. A friend of mine, Mr. Frank Towles, put a very simple design together for us. You can find it at teespring.com slash penaddict. So that's teespring.com slash penaddict. Of course, it will be in the show notes, and you're going to need these show notes. It's 5x5.tv slash penaddict slash 100. You're going to need those today. They're important for the rest of the show.

T-Shirt Design[edit]

Myke Hurley: You can go there. We're making an orange t-shirt naturally, and it just says, a podcast about pens, hashtag penaddict 100. We think that says all we need for this show. All we need to do, if we sell 30 of them, it means whoever puts an order in can get them. There is no cap to the orders. It's going to be available for two weeks. We have to sell a minimum of 30, and then they'll be distributed. I've used teespring before. A few of my friends have too. I really love these guys. They do some awesome stuff. But it's kind of like a kickstarter for t-shirts in that regard. You have to hit your pledge limit, and then the t-shirt will be printed. So if 30 of you buy a t-shirt, fantastic. If a million of you buy a t-shirt, also fantastic. You're all going to get them, but we have to hit a minimum of 30. I hope that's something that you really enjoy. They have a bunch of different sizing options. They have male and female sizes. I say that, and when I say that, I realize that.

Brad Dowdy: I think it's just single sizing.

Myke Hurley: Yeah, it's just single sizing. But yeah, sorry. It's just single sizing.

Myke Hurley: I think if you add female sizing, you have to sell a similar amount of both. I think it sets it as two campaigns. If there's a lot of call for it, then maybe we'll add it. I don't want to promise that right now, but it's single sizing. They have a sizing chart if you need it. And I hope that will be okay. Sorry if it isn't, but I can't imagine that you're going to be wearing this as part of your Sunday best. It's a big orange t-shirt talking about a pen podcast.

Brad Dowdy: And Futura, Futura lettering.

Myke Hurley: Of course it's in Futura.

Myke Hurley: I hope that this is something you'll want to get.

Myke Hurley: I've foreseen me and Brad buying 15 each, but we'll deal with that if necessary. So it's teespring.com slash penaddict. If you want a piece of penaddict history, this will be the only time that this t-shirt is ever printed.

Brad Dowdy: Yep. Like you said, we'll run it for two weeks, and it's really cool. I'm excited, and there's no doubt that these will get printed up. They're pretty cool.

Brad Dowdy: So now.

Myke Hurley: This is the thing we've been working on, or should I say really that Brad's been working on?

Brad Dowdy: Well, this is something I wanted to do for a while, and it's really for, like Myke said, the listeners. It's for you guys that take an hour out of your week every week to listen to us talk about pens and paper and pencils and just the random things that we find and the things that you guys find us. And the involvement that our readership has in the show is really amazing. You know, the comments we get, the feedback we get, the emails, the tweets, everything. Just, you know, we're so grateful that we have this audience. So we wanted to do something special for you. So what we've come up with is a giveaway. And we're going to make it easy for you guys because I don't like to run through too many hoops. But we also want to make it for the listeners of this podcast.

Myke Hurley: Yep.

Brad Dowdy: We don't want – what we've tried to do is come up with an easy way to do that to where we're not just getting, you know, random, you know, Facebook giveaway page link and all these people rush in to this giveaway.

Brad Dowdy: So what we've done is created a form. And we're going to – I think let's go over that at the end, Myke. We're going to go over this form and the questions and how to do it. But first, I want to tell everyone everything that we're going to give away and all the companies and people that donated to this episode 100 podcast. It's pretty much out of hand. So what I want to do is to thank all of these people for donating items, tell you guys what all these items are, and then tell you how we're going to give them away.

Myke Hurley: Let me know if you want me to jump in at any point and take over some because it's a huge list.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, it's a huge list. You guys, man, I am really fortunate to have some wonderful pen people in my life. And, you know, it's awesome that, you know, I've sent out emails and contacted these people, and every single one of them just jumped at the chance and said they would be happy to do it. And they're doing it for our listeners, and we really appreciate that. So let's get it underway. And this is in alphabetical order. It's that long of a list. So I had to organize it somehow. So Anderson Pins, Brian and Lisa Anderson, I've only known them for probably less time than this podcast has been going. But the type of people that they are, they're friends with everybody. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I've met them in person at the Atlanta Pinshow last year. I'm going to see them again here in another week and a half, and I cannot wait to get there to get myself another Lisa hug. That's going to be the highlight of my year. And just the helpfulness that Brian's had with me, you know, answering questions about just random pens and, you know, helping me out with a few other things that, you know, I've had to do behind the scenes.

Brad Dowdy: You really should visit their site. It's AndersonPins.net, and we'll have all these links in the show notes. But I really would appreciate – I don't ask for favors or those type of things very much, but I would really appreciate this time in the show notes. And you're familiar with all these companies. Go visit their sites. Take a look. You know, consider purchasing from them. They've been an important part of the Pen Addict website. They've been a vital part of the Pen Addict podcast. They're huge supporters in all kinds of ways. So I would really appreciate that. This time. So what the Andersons have offered up, they've offered up a tacky, a staccato, black broad nib fountain pen. It's a really beautiful pen. I have not used one. I have it at my house. I've checked it out. I love the design of this pen. I know I'm not a gold furniture guy. But, Myke, you tell me. I don't know if you're looking at this pen. It looks – the shape of it and the two end caps looks exactly like our Vacumatics to me. It's shaped just like a vacuum. It's a really classic design. It's a beautiful pen. Lovely shape. And they've offered this up. I've had the – did I say I have the broad nib model? So the Andersons have donated that to this episode, and that's going to be part of the prize packages that we offer as part of this giveaway.

Myke Hurley: This is one of those, like, boardroom pens. You know? Yeah. You're going to look super professional pulling this out.

Brad Dowdy: This is a classic design. It will never go out of style. It looks beautiful, and it's awesome. Brian and Lisa are great, and I hope when I see them in a week and a half, I'll be able to tell them about the great feedback we got from this show. So hopefully they will see that on their end as well.

Myke Hurley: I'll take this next one.

Brad Dowdy: Yes, please. That would be great.

Myke Hurley: So feel free to add any comments. So we have Colt Pens. Colt Pens are – I think we were lucky enough, or at least I was lucky enough to come across Colt Pens whilst doing the show because they are a fantastic UK-based supplier. They have sponsored the show in the past as well. They're that kind of support for us.

Myke Hurley: What I love about Colt Pens is I'm able to get – if I want to get something and I want to get it quickly, I can get it from Colt Pens. Like if I decide I want to get that new Coeco, I can just go to Colt Pens. I'm going to get it. I'm going to get it quick. They do amazing things that we've seen in the past where they have done like their – what was their giveaway called, Brad? The thing they were doing for –

Brad Dowdy: It was the Pens for Kids. The Pens for Kids. They were basically doing like a match. You ordered X amount of pens. They matched it, and they donated to a group that sends pens to children in need in Africa.

Myke Hurley: So they have donated an incredible amount of stuff for us. So we have one Coeco Colt Pens mini fountain pen, which we reviewed on the show in the past. They've donated five bottles of Colt Pens diamine ink. So we have one each of the following colors. Deep dark blue, deep dark red, deep dark purple, deep dark green, and deep dark brown. And four boxes of Colt Pens ink cartridges, one of each of the following, deep dark blue, deep dark red, deep dark brown, and deep dark green. So thank you so much to Colt Pens for being an awesome supplier of all things pens. And we've mentioned before they ship worldwide, and they do what they can to make sure things are as cheap as possible when they're shipping worldwide. And everything's really cool priced. They've got some amazing stuff. They've got some fantastic things that they create. Like all of the things that I've just mentioned, they're all great products created by and for Colt Pens. Thank you so much to Colt Pens for giving all this stuff into the Pen Addict 100 giveaway.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, so you want to know how great they are? I contacted them, and they said, yeah, absolutely. We'd love to send you the Coeco Colt Pens mini fountain pen. And we might throw in a couple other things. So those couple other things turned into five bottles of their ink and four boxes of their cartridges. Plus, I didn't put in here. They added in the converter, too, for the Colt Pens mini fountain pen.

Myke Hurley: Of course they did.

Diamine Ink[edit]

Brad Dowdy: So, yeah, of course, because they're that type of people. So they're awesome. And when they started this whole diamine ink thing, the first one was deep dark blue. That was it. It was a bottle of deep dark blue. They were going to do like a limited run of it. They weren't sure how it's going to work. And obviously, it's worked pretty well for them because now they have five different colors. And they have cartridges and everything like that. And I use that deep dark blue ink all the time. So it's pretty fantastic. So thank you, Colt Pens. You guys are totally awesome. And, yeah, I order from them. Shipping from the UK to the US has been super simple. So it's been fantastic. And they've been fantastic supporters of the show.

Myke Hurley: I can only imagine how the anticipation must be building because we haven't explained how this is working.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. These prizes are nice, but you don't know how you're going to get them yet, do you?

Brad Dowdy: We're going to make you listen. Next up is one of my favorite people on the planet. I have a lot of favorite people on the planet. That's why I asked these people to be part of this show because I have huge respect for so many people in this business and none more so than Mr. Chad Doan of Doan Paper. I don't know what to say about Chad other than I've pretty much been along with him on the ride from the very beginning, it seems, since he introduced his first product. I mean, since he was doing PDFs almost, he started out with just a PDF you could download, his grid plus lines, paper designs. And, you know, that morphed into, you know, the memo book utility journals and it morphed into these great notebooks and all these other products. Now he's making leather goods and everything. So this is one of my all time favorite products, product lines across the board. Chad can do no wrong in my book. And I love the format of his paper. I love the quality he puts into his designs. I love the utility aspect of everything of all the products that he comes up with. So let me tell you what Chad's put into the kitty here for this giveaway. He's donated a three pack of the large utility journals. That's the new that's the newest release, right? The, what's it, about five by seven notebook. It's really killer. I've got one. Five by seven. Yeah, I've got one. Yeah, I love it. I love that size. That's the ideal size for me. I know it's not as portable as like a pocket notebook, but man, I love that size. That layout just really works for me. He's donated a three pack of the small writing pad. But that's the, like the, what do you call it, like the notepad size, just the regular perforated notepads. He's donated one large flapjotter, which is one of his best designs, I think. It's just a large like steno pad of his, with the grid lines paper. A lot of people love that. That's a lot of people's favorite notebook. And then he's donated the one small idea journal, which this is just, if you've never used this idea journal that he has, whoever this, whoever's hands this ends up in, you will be impressed beyond belief by the quality of this notebook. The idea journal is just a knockout product. No one else makes a product like this idea journal. The idea journals that Chad does are one of my favorite products on the planet, bar none. So thank you, Chad. You're awesome. And everyone, you know, needs to check out Dome Paper. And you've heard us talk about it plenty of times. But if you haven't checked it out, please go visit Chad and check out all the cool products that he has to offer.

Myke Hurley: Next up is Mr. Myke Dudek. Now, the dude is like the perfect example of a listener of the show. Because I would be right in saying, I think, that both myself and Brad first came into contact with Mr. Dudek by him sending something to us. Yeah.

Brad Dowdy: And he sent the original one, which I can't remember.

Myke Hurley: Was the original one called The Block?

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, I think it's just called The Block.

Myke Hurley: And also the kind of the cool wooden iPhone amplifier stereo thing. Yeah. He sent them both to us and became very active in talking to us every week. And it's to the point where the dude is just part of the show. Yeah. You know.

Brad Dowdy: He's flat out blown up.

Myke Hurley: Yep. And we've had him on the show. We've, you know, we love to talk about his products. And he's just sort of the perfect type of listener, really. Because he's very generous, you know, in the things that he's time. And also the things that he's sent to us. And again, for sending something in to us again today. And then he's just become a face, like a friendly face. And he's always got great opinions and insights to give. He now has a pen blog of his own, right? And he's just dived in and has found his niche. And it's become part of the overall community. Because now all of the listeners know if they need to know something about road drawings, well, they go to the dude. And it's kind of like the perfect thing about this little community around this show. And that's why we love Mr. Dudek. And he has very, very kindly donated one of his fantastic pen holders, The Groove. Which is my favorite one. Which is the one that's got the slot in that you can put your notebooks in. It's where I keep my field notes in there. And he's also donated a Donutility Journal as well.

Brad Dowdy: Yep. That'll fit The Groove. Yeah. This is my favorite design too. It's such a great idea. Completely functional. Completely cool looking. Looks great anywhere. At home. Under office desk. Unless you don't want someone to steal it because it looks that good. I think there'll be some thievery involved.

Myke Hurley: Handmade. Amazing stuff.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. I mean, yeah. This is all Myke doing this work in his garage or his workshop. I mean, he is knocking it out the park with his skills in doing this. And it's great to see. And it's great to see what he's really been. Recently, I've been seeing all these posts about some custom work that he's been doing for a lot of people. So, you know, if you have an idea for a pen holder that, you know, suits your needs the best. Like, I know he's done some for some pencils recently and just some different layouts for different people with larger pens and things like that. Get in touch with Myke. Oh, yeah. You should definitely do that. Yeah. He will totally handle that for you.

Myke Hurley: Like, if you – the great thing about him is how much he knows about pens now. So, if you, like, say, I want a pen holder that's going to be able to hold a 2580, a, like, Karas Customs retract and ink, you know, like, you just tell him the type of pens that he's got. And he's going to make sure that it's drilled to the right sizes. Yep. Such a great guy. Thank you, Myke.

Brad Dowdy: Thanks, Myke. We appreciate it. And, boy, man, these listeners. This is like the mother load. Mm-hmm. And we've still got a ways to go. So, this next company, I have a soft spot for many reasons. And it's JetPens. And JetPens, for a lot of reasons, besides the fact that I used to work for them, I worked for them for about a year, which was a wonderful experience. I learned a lot during my time with them. They were one of the first people to reach out. I started my blog in November 2007. I think by maybe January of 2008, they'd kind of picked up on it just from some of the posts I had done. And our relationship started right then. It's been consistent over the years. They saw enough in me to hire me at a certain point to come work for them full time. They've seen enough even that I no longer work for them to continue to be a monstrous supporter. And my loan – I love them so much that they're the only advertiser I have on my blog. So, that should tell you everything that you need to know.

Brad Dowdy: The people that work there are awesome. They go to all kinds of links to make sure their customers are happy. I really respect what they do. The product lines that they carry are bar none the best in the business. They carry – if it's some random thing that you want, they're going to carry it. They carry all the gel pens, all the micro gel pens, which is what I got started with and got the blog started with, up to the fountain pens that I'm using today. And it's been awesome. So, what JetPens has given – and I don't have all the details for a very special reason. They have given a Pilot Prayer fountain pen and a bottle of Pirate Oro Shizuku ink. Notice I didn't elaborate on those, on the specific prayer color, the nib size, or the ink color, because my friend Elaine that works at JetPens wrapped the pen and the bottle of ink in this killer pilot wrapping paper. I forgot I had this on my Instagram. Myke, I'll have to pull up the link, but I have a picture of these two products wrapped. So, this is going to be a surprise when those show up to someone because I don't know what barrel color the prayer is, and I don't know what ink color you're going to get in the Oro Shizuku, but you're going to have some killer pilot wrapping paper to rip open and discover what is on the inside. So, thank you, JetPens, for doing this. It's just really awesome. I appreciate your continued support, and I know a lot of people know and love JetPens, but if you haven't, definitely check them out. They have – yeah, Hydra – that's one of the most Hydra wallet sites on the entire internet, I would say.

Myke Hurley: It's the interesting thing about JetPens. Without JetPens, there'd be no Pen Addict podcast.

Brad Dowdy: There wouldn't.

Myke Hurley: Because this is how we came into contact with each other.

Brad Dowdy: Yep.

Myke Hurley: It was when you worked there.

Brad Dowdy: Yep. Absolutely.

Myke Hurley: So, yeah. Without them. Now, next one is another great friend of the show, massive friend of the show. It's Karas Customs. We've had Dan from Karas Customs on a bunch of times. They're one of the companies that we love to support with what we can ever can do for them with their fantastic products and the Kickstarter stuff that they have. And they've been super supportive of us. And, you know, they're always very kind to share things with us and to work with us. And, you know, they help make this show better by, for example, sending me and Brad early versions of their pens so we can give some killer reviews on the shows and stuff like that. And those sort of things always help. And these guys are so accommodating for us. Again, Karas Customs are a great part of the community because they're this small pen shop in the same way of, like, the dude, right? So, they kind of stumbled into this. And then as they've got sucked in to the pen addict community, you know, Dan is now becoming a pen freak himself. And Karas Customs are just, they are, again, like, everything that's great about the sort of the Kickstarter pen world you can find in these guys. And they're going to be giving away a render K in copper, which is awesome. So, thank you so much to Karas Customs for being so cool, so awesome, and for giving us something to give away to you.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, some of our friends are so great that they, I didn't even get the chance to reach out to them to be involved in the giveaway before they said, I want in. And Dan was one of those guys.

Brad Dowdy: And that just makes me so happy. I just, it's mind-boggling. He's like, I want to be part of this. Let me know what you want. Or, no, he didn't say, let me know what you want. He said, let me know what you need me to do. I said, dude, anything you want to donate is awesome. And he came up with the render K copper because they didn't have that. Copper wasn't a render K that was available during the Kickstarter. So, this is a new after post-Kickstarter pin that they've actually just released not too long ago. I think this year. It's that new. So, it's a beautiful pin. I mean, it is awesome. So, Dan, thank you so much for being involved in this and being involved in our podcast and being a guest on some of our episodes. And it's really, really special to have you want to jump in and be involved and give something back to all the listeners of the pin. I know they appreciate it and we appreciate it. So, next up is my friends at Word Notebooks. We've talked about them a bunch on the podcast mostly because Myke and I, you know, not only do we like these analog tools, but we, you know, we also dabble in the digital pretty heavily. And we're into, like, you know, to-do lists and note-taking apps and things like that that make our lives easier. And Word kind of captured a little bit of that in these notebooks to where they have a built-in system for lists. And it just kind of – it kind of – it really hit home with me because it's very simple. It's a very simple idea that's executed flawlessly. The designs that they have are beautiful. They're simple but cool at the same time. They make some of the coolest-looking notebooks, I think.

Brad Dowdy: And the system that they use on the inside, it's very useful for people who are just doing, you know, task lists, to-do lists. But it also came up really prominently back when we did our bullet journal episode when we had Ryder Carroll on, right, about doing the bullet journaling. The word notebook came up as, hey, this thing is almost like a perfect layout for – to do your bullet journaling, Lynn, because it's basically like a bullet point system with, you know, different lines and things for how you work and how you, you know, mark up your tasks and complete them. So they've donated five, three-packs of notebooks in all kinds of different colors, black, orange, natural, and a couple of different camo colors. They're beautiful. And I really appreciate Word being part of this, and thank you so much for doing this.

Myke Hurley: Now, I'm giving something away. This is awesome. Now, I can unfortunately only give away one of these because it's all that I have except my own. There are some editions of Field Notes which are really hard to get hold of. One of those editions is the XOXO Festival editions. So I'm going to be giving away a 2013 Field Notes XOXO Fuchsia three-pack sealed to somebody who listens to this show.

Brad Dowdy: That's so awesome. When you told me this, I was excited.

Myke Hurley: I would have won that. I felt like I had to give something. Yeah. This is maybe the best thing that I can give.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. It didn't even cross my mind. So that's awesome. Thank you for doing that, Myke. I mean, you're the best, man.

Brad Dowdy: And I am – You have a whole company. Well, yeah. We have some NotCo action, and we're not ready to quite give away the cases yet just because we kind of need to finish that whole Kickstarter thing first before I start giving away Kickstarter people's cases. That wouldn't go over so well for me, but we're not going to talk about that right now.

Myke Hurley: That's a later episode.

NotCo Stationery[edit]

Brad Dowdy: That's next week maybe. But what I am giving away is stuff you can't get right now. And I'm giving away five packs of the NotCo dot dash note cards, which are currently unavailable for purchase, as well as five of the NotCo sticker packs, which we have designed and had printed and are sitting at my house waiting for our store to open. So you're going to get first crack at our note cards and our stickers from NotCo. And if you've been playing along and kind of done the math, there's a lot of fives of a lot of things. So Myke and I are doing five giveaway packages for you guys.

Myke Hurley: Before we talk about this, we originally intended for one giveaway. Like one person would walk away with a bunch of stuff. Yeah. But this grew to a point where we simply could not give this all to one person. This is more than one person could know what to do with. And just to use the ink, the bottles of ink alone would take you like 10 years. So we're going to break it up to five prizes.

Brad Dowdy: So do you want me to go over the prizes first? Do you want me to tell them how do they enter? I think I'll give a go over the packages first. Yeah. So I've broken these down into five giveaway packages that kind of gives everyone the best mix of everything that all of these wonderful people have donated. So giveaway package number one, it's going to be the Anderson pens, Takia Staccato, Black Broad Nymph Fountain Pen. One dome large utility journal, one word notebooks three pack, one bottle of Colt Pens Diamine ink, one pack of the Colt Pens Diamine ink cartridges, one pack of the Notco dot dash note cards, and one Notco sticker pack. That's just one giveaway package.

Myke Hurley: Giveaway package number two is the Jetpens Pilot Prera and Pilot Hiroshizuku ink, one dome large flap jotter, one word notebook three pack, one bottle of Colt Pens Diamine, one pack of Colt Pens Diamine ink cartridges, one pack of Notco dot dash note cards, and one Notco sticker pack.

Brad Dowdy: Giveaway package number three is the Karis Customs Render K Copper with one dome small idea journal, the one word notebooks three pack, one bottle of Colt Pens Diamine ink, one pack of Colt Pens Diamine ink cartridges, one pack of Notco dot dash note cards, and one Notco sticker pack.

Myke Hurley: Giveaway package number four is the Colt Pens mini. One three pack of Don't small writing pads, one word notebooks three pack, one bottle of Colt Pens Diamine ink, one pack of Colt Pens Diamine ink cartridges, one pack of Notco dot dash note cards, and one Notco sticker pack.

Colt Pens Giveaway[edit]

Brad Dowdy: Giveaway package number five is the Colt Pens. Giveaway package number five is the Colt Pens Diamine ink, one cup of Notco dot dash note cards, and one Notco sticker pack. That is a lot of stuff.

Myke Hurley: This competition is open worldwide. We don't want to, I'm right in saying that Brad, right? Yeah, absolutely. Great. We don't want to restrict anyone, we have a worldwide audience. Gosh, yeah. And we're giving you, this is how you're going to enter. So, first go to 5x5.tv slash penaddict slash 100. You're going to find a few things there. You're going to find a breakdown of all of the giveaway packages, so you're going to see what's in each package. And you're also going to find, now there's two different links to this in the page, just to make sure that you cannot miss it. So, you are looking for the giveaway competition form. Let's say it's listed twice on the page. This will take you to a Google form. So, it's mentioned in, yeah, so you've got the giveaway competition form. It's mentioned in two places on the page, to make sure that it's easy for you to see. It's going to take you to a Google form. Now, on that Google form, we have a bunch of information that we're going to need for you to give to us. So, the first thing is a bunch of questions. Brad, can you just talk people through the questions?

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, we – I think I'm more concerned than Myke. I really want these prizes to go to genuine listeners of the podcast. So, what we've come up with is a set of questions about the podcast, things you've learned from previous episodes. And this is not a graded quiz, as in we have six questions we're going to ask that you have to fill out an answer for. Whether you win or not is not based on how many of these answers you get correct. But we are going to vet the answers to ensure that the people entering this contest have some semblance of knowledge of this contest – of this podcast, I should say. We want to make sure these go to true, genuine listeners of the podcast and not just random people who are picking up on a giveaway and just entering because, hey, it's a giveaway and we just want to enter. So, again, you're not entered into the contest by getting all the questions right. But you're entered into the contest by – we'll be – by these questions, and we're going to go through them here real quick. By answering these questions, we'll be able to tell that, okay, this person has actually listened to at least some of the episodes of the podcast. You don't have to listen to all of them. You don't – I mean, not everyone. Some people have only picked up this show in the last five episodes. You're going to be able to get some of these answers, and we're going to be able to tell by that. So everyone who we vet as actually being a listener of this show by how they answer these questions is going to go into a random drawing. We're going to pick five people, and also – let me back up. On this giveaway page, you're going to be able to choose what your favorite giveaway package is out of all the packages we just listed, your first and second choice you'll be able to pick. And we'll do our best to give you the one that you prefer.

Myke Hurley: And obviously, it's worth saying you can only win one package.

Brad Dowdy: Yes, you can only win one package. So just enter once. There's nothing preventing you from winning a million times, but just enter once. We have your email address. We ask for your Twitter name so we can contact you when you're done. I mean, when we're ready to give this away.

Myke Hurley: Yes, and we ask for both just because Brad has had a lot of problems in the past with people either, A, not responding to emails, or B, not responding to tweets. So we're going to do – actually, we're also going to do – we're going to do a few things. We're going to – because we would also really like to be able to – do we want to announce publicly the winners? I guess so, right? Yeah, definitely. So we will also be – so this is – bear in mind that – also to save us in case we can't find you. We will be announcing if you are a winner on the episode.

Brad Dowdy: Yes, and that's going to be in episode 102. So we're running this for two weeks from today. Okay, right?

Myke Hurley: And then we'll give people – yes, we'll give people an amount of time that we haven't yet decided, depending on how everyone replies, as to how long the offer will be maybe held out for you. Maybe we – if we haven't heard from you, we give you another chance in the next episode, I guess?

Brad Dowdy: I don't know. We should be – with the email and the Twitter name, I found the Twitter name has been a godsend in being able to hunt people down and give them the free stuff that I want to give them. So, yeah, I'm not worried about that. Great. So everyone's going to have – you'll go to the show notes. You're going to fill out this giveaway questionnaire, and we have six questions for you. And Myke and I brainstormed a list of questions. We came down with these six that are a good sampling of some of the topics we've talked about on the show. So let's tell – I think we should go over these questions. Myke, what do you think?

Myke Hurley: I think it's a great idea.

Brad Dowdy: All right. Question number one. What are the pens that shall not be named?

Myke Hurley: Question number two. What pen would you sign a birth certificate with?

Brad Dowdy: Question number three. What is Brad's all-time favorite Field Notes colors release?

Myke Hurley: Question number four. You will not be greater than your spelling. What is the brand name of Myke's iPad and notebook case? Yes.

Brad Dowdy: Yes. Spelling does not count. Question number five. Myke has missed two episodes of the show. Name one person who filled in for him.

Myke Hurley: And finally, what pen brand tops Brad's wish list for 2014?

Brad Dowdy: Easy stuff, right?

Myke Hurley: I think so.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. Even if you've listened to only, like, the last five or ten episodes, you're probably going to have a couple of these, like, immediately.

Myke Hurley: Or there's a couple where you know where to look.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. Or you can find them easily. You know, I would love it if everyone attempted to get them all right. But like I said, it's not an accuracy quiz. We just want to ensure, like I said, that, you know, this is – we put a lot into getting these prize packages. And, you know, I really respect everyone who – all these companies that donated everything to this. And I want to make sure to do right by them, too. So, you know, hopefully, you know, all the listeners are going to, you know, find this fun to do. And I think it's great. And, you know, I'm excited to be able to do this, Myke. And I'm excited to – I'm excited to finally launch this and get everyone – we've been building this up for a week or two. And now we're – it's actually here. And we're going to release it to the world.

Myke Hurley: So, it's very simple. 5x5.tv slash penaddict slash 100. Everything that you need is going to be there. You've got two links to the competition entry form. And we have all of the giveaway items and the packages that they're broken down into. So, it's very simple for you to see what's what.

Myke Hurley: Episode 102 is when the competition will close. And we should be announcing the winners in that episode. The competition may close slightly before to give us time to do the random drawing. But it will be around the – around two weeks it will be open for. If we are going to close it early at any point, then me and Brad will announce this on Twitter.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. Actually, yeah. We'll go ahead and say it's going to end the Monday before episode 102. So, yeah. That's a confusing point.

Myke Hurley: Monday the 14th of April will be the closing day of the competition.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah. So, that gives us a chance to announce everyone on the Tuesday for episode 102.

Myke Hurley: So, we can count all of the entries and make sure that we're happy. It's going to be like the two of us are going to make the decisions.

Brad Dowdy: Yes. And we'll put that on the show notes page. Just a closing date of the 14th. So, perfect.

Myke Hurley: I'm adding that as we speak. Competition closes on April 14th, 2014. Again, I even wrote it out so we couldn't get our transatlantic listener base confused.

Myke Hurley: So, I mean, I know that's been a lot. I hope that that's been interesting to listen to. You know, we're really excited by it and I hope that you will be too. And look, if you listen to this show, enter. Just do it. You're going to know a couple. We really want you to enter if you listen to this show.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, we're not trying to make this hard or difficult at all. We just want to give our listeners the best shot at getting some of these awesome prizes.

Listener Prizes[edit]

Myke Hurley: Because as Brad said, it is really important to us that our listeners get these prizes. So, Brad, before we finish, I want to say a couple of things. Okay. I want to give you the ability to go first in case I make you cry again.

Myke Hurley: Well. Just quickly, before I do actually. All these years you've called me girly drinks. I know. And now you're the cry baby.

Brad Dowdy: Dude, I cry at Disney movies with my kids. Even ones I've seen like ten times. It's no joke. I cry at movies. I can admit it. Yeah. So, you're girly drinks and I'm crying, boy.

Myke Hurley: Mm-hmm.

Brad Dowdy: But, you know, Myke asked me before the podcast, are you going to write a post for the pen addict? And so you can, you know, let everyone know that this contest is coming up. And I said, yeah, absolutely. And he said, well, what are you putting in that post? So, you know, I know I have everything in the show notes and everything correct. You know, so make sure we're on the same page. And I told him what I'm putting in there and, you know, how I was so thankful to all the people who donated and to all the listeners who have made this. But I'm really – what I didn't tell him that I wrote in there is how grateful I am for him. I'm so grateful for you, Myke, for making me do this. And I don't say that in a bad sense. You said to me multiple, multiple times that we have to do this. This will work. And I was very hesitant at first. Like, this is the most insane idea I have ever heard in my life. Not only have I never done a podcast. You want this podcast to be about pens. Have you lost your ever-loving mind? And now we're on episode 100. So I have to thank you, Myke, for pushing me to do this, something that I would have never have done. And we absolutely would not be here without you. And all the – people don't understand the behind-the-scenes work that goes on for Myke to do this. I come on here and talk. I put together some show notes. Myke handles all the technical aspects of it. Handles all posting the show notes. And, you know, making sure the podcast sounds good. Editing anything we need to do. You guys just can't even fathom what Myke puts into this. So I want to thank you, Myke. Seriously. I mean, you're the best podcast partner I could have. You're a wonderful friend. And it – I mean, here's another 100 episodes because I can't imagine, you know, I can't imagine doing this with anyone else. You've been awesome. So thank you.

Myke Hurley: Thank you, Mr. Dowdy.

Brad Dowdy: You got it, bud.

Myke Hurley: 100 episodes. We've been doing this show for a couple of years. Over that time, to say, like Brad said, I basically bullied him to start this show with me. And it is insane to think that a podcast exists about people talking about pens and paper. People that I try and tell in the real world don't understand it. There are people – you know, I basically baffle the entire podcasting community at large. People – it's like a joke but not in a bad way. You know, Myke's the guy who does the pen show. You know, it is a funny thing. Over this time, I have gained a really important thing out of doing this show. More than the things that I've learned actually about the entire podcasting industry that this show has informed. So the fact that you can actually create a show about anything you want as long as you've got people that are really passionate and want to talk about it. If you do what you can to make sure that your listeners have something to care about, then they will always be there for you. They will support the show. They will support your sponsors. And the show will continue to grow. And it will grow to a level that you would never have expected. If you target a niche, people are always looking for content about the things that they love. So you'll get there. More than any of that, the most important thing that this show has given me is one of my best friends in the entire world. And that is Brad Dowdy. Without a shadow of a doubt, recording this show every week is one of the best hours that I have all week. And that is mainly due to the fact that I get to be on the phone with this guy for this amount of time. Like, of everyone that I record with, I've met practically all of my co-hosts now that I've ever worked with. I've never met Brad, but I honestly consider him one of my best friends. It doesn't matter if we have not spoken all week. We come on this call and it's like we've been in constant communication for the entire week. Because we just work together. And the reason that I think people enjoy this show is because of the friendship that we have. Over the time that we've done this show, this show has helped Brad start a company. And that is incredible to me. And the listeners of this show have helped one of my best friends realize a dream. And I think that without the Pen Addict podcast, that would never have happened. And I want to thank all the listeners for helping him do that. The Pen Addict itself and Brad have helped me find and discover and fall in love with a hobby. Pens and this sort of stuff. It's a thing that I love so much. And this show allows me to do it. I don't buy as much as I used to buy. But that doesn't matter anymore. Because just talking about it is all I want to do. I just want to talk about pens. Because I have nowhere else to talk about them. I don't have anyone that cares about this as much in my life as Brad and all of you guys.

Myke Hurley: We've done 100 episodes. But there was a time when I thought this show had gone away. Brad needed to take a break. And anyone that's listened would know. And I thought this show was gone. And it made me incredibly sad to think that I was going to lose the Pen Addict from my life. And then all of a sudden, one day, out of the blue, Brad sends me a message and tells me that he wants to start. But what Brad doesn't know is at this time, the time when Brad sent me this message and told me the Pen Addict needs to come back, I was doing more shows than I currently do. I was recording four days a week. And I had friends of mine that wanted to start podcasts and stuff with me. And I had other projects that I wanted to do. But I simply did not have the time for them. Like I had no more time in my calendar to have another show. Like it was at the point where I was just at capacity. Brad sent me that message. And I've just moved things around. Because it did not matter to me how late I'd have to stay up, how hard I'd have to work, or how tired I would be. The Pen Addict, Brad, and all of you listeners mean enough to me that I just want to be here every week. And I hope that we do another thousand episodes because I have no intention of going anywhere. So I want to thank each and every single one of you for listening to this show every week. The sheer amount of you that there are boggles my mind. The fact that every episode you're firing jokes at us that sometimes I don't even remember we've made. And that you've got these fantastic opinions about the stuff that we talk about. The emails, the tweets, I love it all. The incredible generosity of every single one of you that's ever sent anything to either of us is amazing. And Brad, thank you.

Brad Dowdy: Yeah, seriously, thank you so much, Myke. And yeah, I echo everything you said. And it's been awesome. And the best is yet to come. I mean, this is, I'm almost at the point where I couldn't not do this. I would be very upset if this was not part of my life and you weren't in it. So thank you very much.

Myke Hurley: Thank you all for listening to episode 100 of The Pen Addict. We'll be back next week for episode 101, I promise. We'll be back next week. Thank you so much for listening. Until then, bye-bye.

Myke Hurley: Oh, Brad. Yes? Say goodbye. Goodbye.
