Description[edit]

This campaign was to raise funds for the Scribble pen, which was advertised as being able to scan any color in the real world, and be able to replicate it in ink on the fly. The product would also have the option as a stylus, and a tandem mobile application was in the works. As part of a PR push, the pen was advertised in June[1], with the actual Kickstarter launching on August 11, 2014. It was cancelled 3 days later, despite raising three times more than the goal, after backers brought up concerns about the product and the company's claims. Initially the Scribble Team promised to rectify the issue with Kickstarter administration and relaunch[2], but eventually decided to use alternative crowdsourcing platforms. The first attempt of this was on the Tilt platform.

The product's infamy continued post-Kickstarter, and has been chronicled on Scribble.
