Structure of Fenghwa Surprise

The Fenghwa Surprise was first released in September 1948. It's the first ballpoint pen in China, made by Fine Articles Factory (the predecessor of Fenghwa Ballpoint Pen Factory). All parts of the pen except the tip's ball was made in China.

This was an advertisement in the newspaper when Fenghwa Surprise was put on sale in 1948.

This pen imitates Eversharp Kimberly in appearance. It has no clip, a gold-colored metal section of the cap visually separating the cap's tip and the main body of the pen.

The factory rented a counter on the ground floor of Yong'an Company for sale. Because is the first ballpoint pen in China and production relatively slow, it started out with only a daily sales total of about 100 before demand increased over time.
