== Carolina Pen Company == '''Myke Hurley:''' So we've got this box, a sleeve on it. Take off the sleeve and there's a box that says Carolina Pen Company. You open that box, there's an acrylic box with the Pen Addict logo in orange on the top of this box. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Box as fancy as all get out. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yeah. It's like a wood thing or whatever, acrylic thing, but like it feels good, right? Mm-hmm. Open the box and there is a pen inside, which is orange with like black freckles or like, I wouldn't know. Specs. Specs. Yeah. I've taken two really bad photos. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Which are in the show notes. Not going to lie, Myke, those are pretty bad, but I haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet either. So. '''Myke Hurley:''' You know what? I'm going to actually take better photos to put in the show notes for the listeners. '''Brad Dowdy:''' And I'll get it in the, I'll get it in the light box sometime this week. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yep. So I'm going to do that. I will take some better pictures. So, so, so the, so the, the live audience is seeing the terrible photos. I'm going to take some better ones. Um, so it's this orange pen and it's, and it's black speckles on it. And we then find out that it's a Rushi. It's an Rushi pen. Now, can you explain to people what that means? '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah. So it's, it's a, it's a lacquered pen over an ebonite, um, core, if you will. So it's a long cigar, cigar shaped pen, you know, very traditional Rushi barrel design and shape when one of my favorite shapes, um, you know, it's got a threaded just above the section. It's got a long, nice section. The section's wonderful. The threads don't get in the way. Everything's kind of smooth and all works together. But the, essentially the artwork is what I call it, um, is spectacular. You know, it just takes, it probably took him a couple of months, a few months to make this just layering on different layers of lacquer and Rushi. And I can't even explain, you know, like the material, um, that's in this Rushi, but it, it just came out wonderful. And it's orange, of course. And it's hard to explain. It's, it's one of those things you have to see in person. So it's fascinating. And then Myke opens up the cap, right? And we're looking around and John's like, yeah, I got you a medium, Brad and Myke, I got you a broad and, you know, their gold nibs. And, um, Shay's back there. She goes, and look at the nib. And then, uh, then Myke about, you know, I passed out and you started crying. '''Myke Hurley:''' That's what happened. Yeah, pretty much. I love you always tell this story where you're like, Oh, Myke freaked out while you're standing there with like tears in your eyes. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah. So we had the exact opposite reaction. If two people could have a reaction at the same time and both in their natural habitat, Brad went into the shell and cried and Myke screamed. Yep. '''Myke Hurley:''' Basically the nib, the nib of the pen has engraved on it, the pen addict logo, which is bonkers. I don't, I don't know how this was done. Um, I think Jonathan had these made, I think. Um, I don't think that he did them himself. I think, I think he may have had them made. I didn't ask him. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah. We were too flabbergasted to, uh, to ask really how he did it. '''Myke Hurley:''' But it's man, this has instantly become like a true favorite pen for me. I mean, plus it is smooth as you like, right? The writing experience on this thing is amazing, but this thing, I could put it on paper and it could like cut for every sheet of paper that I own and I wouldn't care. It would already be made a favorite, right? Like this is incredible. Like I, it's the quality of this pen is so good. It's like last year we found Jonathan and he was making these incredible acrylics. This year it's like, oh, now I make a Rushi pens as well. Like he had this whole line of them, um, on his table and like, you know, I, I don't want to, I don't want to like oversell it, but I'm looking at them and I'm like, those look like Nakaya's to me. Like you could take one of those, you could put it in my hand and I'll believe you. Like I would straight out believe you. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah. They look fantastic. His, his work is really, really good. Like that. And that's why we have to get, uh, Brooks back on because we didn't talk about his Rushi pens. I know he had some new Ebonite pens there at the show. I saw some really amazing looking models of that. And I know, uh, I know we sold a few of them because people were bringing around showing to me and they were just fantastic. So the guy's got, uh, he's got a lot of things going on. He does. He does. Like he's, he's a mad scientist, which is what I call him on the show. And you know, when the output's like this, it's just fascinating. It's really, really good.
