'''Brad Dowdy:''' So I went to pick up the Nakaya that I mentioned that I bought. I knew that's what it was because it was coming from Denmark. So I had to sign for it. So I went to the post office to pick it up, rushed home, knowing that we had to record. But I wanted to go ahead and get it inked up and kind of get it broken in.

'''Brad Dowdy:''' So I cleaned it out real quick, threw some ink in it, and came in here to record. So I didn't have time to write with it. So while we were getting ready for the episode, I was starting to just scribble with it and get it flowing. So that's what I was doing. I was making scribble noises with my new awesomely orange Nakaya.

And Lux Vesperus, if you're listening, I will need a full correction of this one. You ready? So I have in my hands the Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Negoro Nuno Kise Hon Kataji Fountain Pen.

'''Myke Hurley:''' That sounded okay to me.

'''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah. But I have no idea, right? It's just a really, really long name. So what this is, is Nakaya's Artisans. So if you know about Nakaya's, they're a lacquered pen. So that means that the artists that make the pen are layering on, brushing on lacquer to build up the barrels of these pens. Different colors, different designs. And in this particular model, they, within that lacquering, they engrave cracks into the surface of the pen. So there's a depth into this pen where it looks like, you don't want to say broken, it doesn't look broken, but it looks like it's like a shattered, cracked pen. It's got these really unique crevices in it. Yeah. So it's got this depth into the lacquering, and they've worked around it to build up around these cracks. And it's part of the whole process of designing this pen. It's crazy. It's, like on the nibs.com page, which would link, it says they take about six months to produce these pens, to run through the whole process of making these pens, just because of the handiwork, the artwork that these guys have to do and gals to make these pens.

'''Brad Dowdy:''' It's beautiful. It's hard to explain in a picture, but it's really, really cool. And we'll go in more in depth later in it for sure. But I considered this when I was buying one of my first Nakaya, but I wanted more of a normal pen, just a more standard pen, the first one I bought. But I'd always, I mean, it's this beautiful orange color, so it's always been on my radar because I love orange.

'''Brad Dowdy:''' And I just happened to see one come up on Fountain Pen Network's classifieds and worked out a deal. And it came with an extra, extra fine nib, so I was happy about that. And so, yeah, I just, I couldn't wait to start using it, so I was scribbling a little bit when we were talking. So I've only had it in my hands for, what, like an hour, hour and a half? It's, it's, it lives up to the hype. I'm pretty happy with it.

'''Myke Hurley:''' It's pretty special looking, man. Yeah. I must say, pretty special looking. I'm very jealous of it, actually.

'''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, I think I'm gonna, I'm gonna get a lot of use out of this and like it a lot. It's very dashing pen. And you can tell it's, you can tell there's a lot of workmanship that went into this, into this pen. And it came out beautifully, and I'm very, very happy with it so far.
