== Pen Fit == '''Brad Dowdy:''' I am so anal about these pens that I don't want any gap or any play or any movement when you write. You know, sometimes pens are designed, especially retractable pens, when you press down the plunger and eject the tip, there's a little bit of movement in the tip. I don't know if you've experienced that. You know what I'm talking about? '''Myke Hurley:''' Yep. '''Brad Dowdy:''' And so, and then when you look at it, you feel that tip moving when you write, and then you look down at it and you can see some, you know, black space. You know, it's like a gap between the tip of the refill and the opening on the pen. Well, this Cavalier, I mean, it's like a deadlock seal. It's awesome. '''Brad Dowdy:''' It's super tight fit. And like I said, it feels like, you know, and I didn't ask him this specifically, but it feels like this was the, the barrel was designed for almost for this refill. It fits so, so well. '''Brad Dowdy:''' So once I got, once I got that high tech C Cavalier in there out of the way, I was like, okay, cool. That's awesome. It fits great. So then I just started ripping through, you know, I have a whole box of pens and a whole, you know, I, I sort out some of my refills like in Ziplocs and things like that. I just started breaking out everything. All right, give me this. Let me, let me see what I can fit in. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Besides the high tech C, the Uniball Jetstream, the 0.5 and 0.7 refills fit in here perfectly. '''Brad Dowdy:''' The Sino RT gel, the 0.38 millimeter fits in here wonderfully. '''Brad Dowdy:''' The G2, it, Pilot G2, it fits perfectly. I didn't think I had one of the Mont Blanc rollerball refills, but I found one and it fits awesome. That's a great refill. Are you familiar with the, and this, this even, this predates the Pen Addict blog. Even there was a, a popular post, but I don't even know by who, but it was a Pilot G2 hack, you know, to fit the Mont Blanc refill into the Pilot G2. Have you, have you ever heard of that hack? '''Myke Hurley:''' No. '''Brad Dowdy:''' It's like an old, it's an old standby classic hack. And you see, I see it cropping up every now and then. People just discovering, it's like, oh my God, I can get, you know, a Mont Blanc for, you know, cheap, you know, because it, it fits the G2 barrel. So, well, this fits that Mont Blanc refill very, very well. Actually, I got, the prototypes I got, they sent me one of each of the three, the three builds that they're doing. It's a, let me get the names exactly right. It's a bead blasted matte black, bead blasted matte silver, and a high polished chrome. Um, and I have the Mont Blanc refill and the, the bead blasted silver. And it, again, it, it fits so well. It, it looks like it's made for it. I'm, I'm very impressed with how tight the tolerances are, if you will, on a lot of these refills. Now, I haven't tested them all. Um, and on their list, I did have issues with a couple of them. Um, and I'm working with Joe on, on some of those questions that I have. Like, I really want the Zebra Sarasa clip. That's a pen that a lot of us use, right? Do you, I think you use that, have you used that some in the past? '''Myke Hurley:''' Yeah, I've got one. You sent me one. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Yeah, yeah. And that's one I like a lot. Um, you know, a lot of readers of the Pen Antic use that pen a lot. I was like, oh, that would be great if I could get that pen into this barrel. It doesn't fit as well as some of these other pens. It comes, it ends up being a little short, if you will. So the way, the way this pen is designed internally, like in the barrel, there's a spring way up in the, towards the butt end of the pen. Okay. So that provides the tension for the, for the tip to come out and stay firm while you're writing. Well, based on the length of some of these refills, the tip doesn't quite stick out far enough. I mean, it's really, really, really close, but you can tell a difference when you have something so perfect as the high tech C Cavalier refill or the Mont Blanc refill that it looks like it just nailed it. You know, as far as dimensions goes, the zebra solar acid clip and the Uniball Sino 207, they fall a little bit short. And they told me, you know, since these are prototypes, there's some things that are going to be changing. And one of those things is that spring length and the spring tension to make sure they bring down the tip far enough. So it extends far enough out the barrel. So it looks normal when you're writing to give you a, you know, a good writing experience. I don't, I don't know if I'm explaining that properly. If you can, are you tracking me there on what the, what the issue is I'm seeing? '''Myke Hurley:''' Kind of.
