== Montegrappa's "Off the Rails" special edition pens == '''Brad Dowdy:''' All right, Myke. They have done it again. Mad less. The frequency at which Montegrappa releases these. Off the Rails special editions. It fascinates me. So today we're going to talk about the Frankenstein limited edition. I keep forgetting this for the last couple of weeks. It's been in my notes and I keep forgetting to put it in the show. So it's been out for a few weeks. Before we even get into this, I just, I, I'm just fascinated at what the shop and manufacturing could look like at Montegrappa to be able to put this much effort and level of detail into so many pens so frequently. I'm completely fascinated. Like I, like I should put on like my bucket list, like dream trip would like actually to go to Montegrappa because I find them one of the most interesting big fountain pen makers in the world. Right. I just think they're very interesting because I love their, I love the pens that I can afford. Right. Like I'm not, I'm not getting the Frankenstein pen, but like the pens that they make for me that are in my budget are some of my favorites. Right. So I'm already a fan. And then they go out and do, do something like this. So, um, this is called, I guess the, the, the subtitle of this pen is called the monster within. And like with a lot of these pens, I think we have to just start with the display. Myke is, is this the most awesome display that we have ever seen? Um, despite the fact they have built a literal Coliseum for one of the pens before. '''Myke Hurley:''' What is the display for this one? I don't see it on the website. So I'm on the top page. Oh my word. Yeah, there it is. Yeah. Okay. That's pretty great. So does that, that thing actually does the little electric, like, uh, so you know, there's things you put your hands on, your hair stands up. Is it actually doing that? '''Brad Dowdy:''' I doubt that. Uh, although it does say danger, high voltage on the back of it. Like it has the switch you can flip. And I don't know how much of this is like interactive or lights up or, or, or what, but like, it's got the table, uh, where the monster would lay and, you know, all of the, uh, electricity. '''Myke Hurley:''' It says here a working lab display, whatever that is. That means let's go. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Let's go. '''Myke Hurley:''' Let's go. A straight jacket, pen wrap. '''Brad Dowdy:''' Like, yeah. Like, yeah. Oh, the pen wrap is intense. We'll go with intense. You know, I mean, I guess if you're watching, uh, I guess if you're watching the movie or have, or can, you know, have read the books and read the book and, and can visualize some of this stuff. Like you, you're already aware of what's going on. All right. Um, so there's one key feature amongst a lot of features. Yep. In this pen. Um, I'm not even going to tell you what it is, but I'm going to just get you to go ahead and describe it because there's really only one thing to focus on with this pen. '''Myke Hurley:''' Yeah. So if you're hearing, oh, there's a Frankenstein pen, uh, and it's from Montegroppa, let me tell you right now. It ain't what you're thinking. There's no abs in this pen, right? Like they did not make a Frankenstein. Um, what this pen seems to be is like, it's meant to look like a chamber that maybe he was made in. Although like, I don't remember Frankenstein ever being in a chamber. Like maybe this is like a different version of Frankenstein, but like I always have known it and pictured it as like, he's on the table, which they have made. Right. And then they kind of electrify him and he comes to life. Right. Um, but there is this little wheel that you can turn on the cap and when you turn it, a little door opens up and you see Frankenstein's head in the thing, which is cool. Like, I do think that like, that is a very fun way to do this, but it feels like a missed opportunity to me that like this pen should have looked like Frankenstein. Like you may as well have just gone for it. Yeah. The monster. Yes. Thank you. Frankenstein's monster. We're going to get an email. Not Dr. Frankenstein. Let me tell you right now, listener, if you were going to write that email, just get out of town. Right. Like, you know what I'm talking about. '''Brad Dowdy:''' I was just going to subtly, you know, throw that in there because I mean, everyone does it like this is a normal thing. So, yes. '''Myke Hurley:''' We're talking when Frankenstein means the monster. Like everyone knows that now. If you think that Frankenstein means the doctor, then I don't know what to tell you. You know, this is part of a new license that Montegrappa has, which is the universal monsters license, which I think also includes like King Kong. And Godzilla and Godzilla and stuff. No. Because they say this is our debut universal monsters writing edition. So, Universal Monsters is a collection of monster licenses owned by Universal. Oh, no. You know, like Kong.
