===Company Evolution=== ====Koch Era==== In 1917, Paul Bein and a partner founded Koch & Bein to produce stamp albums. Inn 1923 it became Paul Koch GmbH. With a partnership with the Volkhardt Family, the KABE stamp album brand was created. In 1931, the firm started producing a catalog of German stamps, the Deutschland Netto Katalog. In 1937, Koch had to sell the KABE publishing company to the partner. In 1948 Paul Koch founded a new stamp album publishing company in Hamburg, Germany - Leuchtturm Albenverlag. In 1959 Eberhad Koch, Paul's son, sold the firm to Wolfgang Schon. ====Sturken Era==== In 1962, Schon began an export business with Kurt Sturken. In 1972, Sturken bought out Schon's shares. In 1992, KABE and Leauchtturm started cooperating in production and purchasing. Five years later, the two firms were merged. Sturken continued to lead the firm until 1998, when son Axel was brought on. Later in 2003, Max, the younger son, also joined the firm. Since 2002, the firm has been producing coin albums and collection supplies. ====Leuchtturm1917 Brand==== The Leuchtturm1917 brand was launched in 2005 for the firm's stationery products.<ref>[https://unsharpen.com/whats-the-deal-leuchtturm1917/ What's The Deal With Leuchtturm1917]</ref>
