Graf von Faber-Castell is a line of fine writing instruments from the German stationery manufacturer brand owner::Faber-Castell, established in Established::1993. It includes a line of pencils, mechanical pencils, fountain pens, and rollerball pens. Currently, Graf von Faber-Castell makes high end writing instruments made with luxury materials such as ebony, resin, and ivory.

Pencils
Graf von Faber-Castell sells the Perfect Pencil, a sort of pencil extender with an integrated sharper. The end of the pencil houses an eraser, and has a metal cap. Placing the pencil with the point in the extender makes it possible to then use the extender's clip on a pocket, without worrying about the pencil marking clothes or making holes. There are several versions of the Perfect Pencil, in plastic, platinum-plated metal, and sterling silver.

Graf von Faber-Castell sells 0.7&nbsp;mm twist action mechanical pencils. The barrel of the mechanical pencils are encased with precious woods or resins.

Pens
Graf von Faber-Castell offers a variety of fountain pens. Graf von Faber-Castell fountain pens employ a cartridge/converter filling system, which allows the pen to be filled with ink using either an ink bottle or with self-contained, hassle free cartridges. The models offered come in a variety of finishes, such as wood, lacquered metal, amongst other finishes. Fountain pen nibs are either 18K gold nibs, or polished stainless steel with a hard-wearing iridium metal tip.

Graf von Faber-Castell also sells twist action ballpoint pens, with a similar system to its mechanical pencil. These often belong to a line of products, completing the set of fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerballs and mechanical pencils.

Series
There have also been variations for the casings. The classic series offers slow growth hard wood surfaces in ebony, pernumbuco and grenadilla. The Intuition series offers glossy black resin, the Guilloche series offer craved dyed resin in coral, indigo, sahara, and black as well as several woods.

"Pen of the Year"
Every year since 2003, Graf von Faber-Castell has produced a line of limited edition fountain pens, namely "Pen of the Year". These are regarded as some of the most prized pens in the world due to their fine craftsmanship and limited production. Each "Pen of the Year" has a nib of 18 carat bicolor gold with a barrel of exotic materials. Below is a list of the "Pen of the Year" materials. <br />
2003 "Pen of the Year" - snakewood <br />
2011 "Pen of the Year" - jade <br />
Due to the limited production as well as the rarity of the material, the 2011 "Pen of the Year" has a MSRP of 3500 USD.<br />
2012 "Pen of the Year" - Material used: ancient oak <br />
2014 "Pen of the Year" - New series, inspired by historical Buildings. The Pen of the Year 2014 was inspired by the craftsmanship of the builders of the Catherine Palace <br />
2015 "Pen of the Year" - green Silesian serpentines
The brand was founded in 1994 and the name is an amalgamation of the words “pen” and “ace”.

To date Kotobuki has primarily tried to establish the Penac brand in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. For example PENAC Writing Instruments GmbH (P.W.I. GmbH) was established in Fürth, Germany in 1997, and in 1999 Kotobuki entered into an agreement with the Indian pen manufacturer Schefields for them to sell Penac branded pens and mechanical pencils in India.

As one of the world’s leading OEM/ODM manufacturers of mechanical pencils and writing instruments, Kotobuki’s customers include many of the world’s leading international brands such as Staedtler, Faber-Castell, Papermate, BIC, Pentel and Uni. The establishment of Penac as an international brand has faced the usual difficulties of establishing a brand in the face of existing well entrenched competitors, as well as it being in competition with Kotobuki’s own major customers, and Penac has struggled to gain market share.
:Pentel seem to resist using model numbers even though they have them and print them on their pencils. This one is simply the "SharpTM", and is generally refered to as the P200 series or P20X series as its model numbers are all P20X with X being 3, 5,7 or 9 for lead size 0.3mm, 0.5mm, etc. So the current title of this page "Pentel P205" is incompatible with its text saying it is available in 0.3mm, 0.5mm etc lead.KDMP (talk) 08:08, 13 July 2018 (CEST)

:::I think it has to be Pentel P200 Sharp or Pentel Sharp P200. Then other Pentel pencils will have to follow the same style - name or number first. I checked a few Pentel sites and they seem to be standardised on name first then number, e.g. Pentel Fiesta AX105, Pentel GraphGear 1000 PG1015. The problem is no one uses name and number for the P200 and a couple of others. They use P200 or Sharp but not both. I vote Pentel Sharp P200 to maintain consistency with other name/number models.KDMP (talk) 21:03, 13 July 2018 (CEST)
Name of series
I think the P20x series has different numbers depending on lead diameter, e.g. 5 for 0.5, 7 for 0.7.. Is there an official name for the P20x series? If so that might be a better name for this article. --Memm (talk) 22:48, 8 July 2018 (CEST)

:Hmmm, further research shows several English language country specific Pentel websites do use model numbers and call it the P200. Again they are inconsistent in their naming, some not using the name Sharp either, just calling it the P200 Series. Also some offer the P203 and others do not. All seem to offer P205/7/9.KDMP (talk) 08:29, 13 July 2018 (CEST)

I definitely see the value in the table of companies with date established and location for the companies category, but I'm not sure about it for Brands. Date and HQ of brand? Perhaps instead a table of Brand and Brand Owner? This would show who the latest owner of Shaeffer, Rotring, etc is. I suppose you could even try and track the changes as brands are sold from one corporation to another, but that might be too hard for high level table and best left to a table on the individual brands page.

The Lamy 2000 was designed by Gerd Alfred Müller and the fountain pen was released in 1966, followed by the ball point pen in 1968 and the mechanical pencil in 1970. It remains in production today. The 2000 was innovative in its day for its use of a special fiberglass resin, Makrolon, produced by Bayer, for the body of the pen.
The fountain pen version of the 2000 is the only Lamy fountain pen that is a piston fill pen, so thus only takes bottled ink. There is also a mechanical pencil, a ballpoint pen and a four-color ballpoint pen.

The Mechanical Pencil Day Contest 2018 is the first ever contest held on Stationery Wiki. The contest is played and won by skill of editing. The purpose of the Mechanical Pencil Day Contest 2018 is to encourage content creation and improvement of articles related to mechanical pencils and to have fun.

The Judges
The Pen Addict's Brad Dowdy and Dave of Dave's Mechanical Pencils fame have agreed to act as judges for this contest.

How to participate
To participate you need to amend an existing or create a new article related to mechanical pencils. To keep things simple you don't have to indicate that you want to participate. All contributions will automatically count for the contest.

The deadline for contributions will be 5 August 2018 at 12:00 (noon) UTC.

Who can participate
Everyone can participate, but the prizes can only be sent to countries Royal Mail delivers to, so if you live on the ISS or in a research station in Antarctica and are not sure whether they deliver to you you can check on their Country Guide page.

What you can win
You can find an explanation on this Bleistift.blog post.
The judges will pick two contributions each. This means that if both judges pick the same contributions there will be two prizes, but depending on whether there is overlap or not there can also be three or four prizes. In that case User:Memm will pick one or two mechanical pencils from his collection as additional prizes.
